Yes, when necessary for FAPE. Section 300.34(c)(13) distinguishes school nursing by a qualified nurse from other school health services that qualified individuals may provide within their roles.

Describe the need and support

Bring relevant clinical information and explain effects on attendance, participation, or safety. Discuss tasks, schedules, qualified staff, coordination, and staff absences. A T-1 aide does not automatically replace a function requiring nursing.

Coordinate the IEP and school care

Ask that needed educational services be clear in the IEP and coordinated with relevant health protocols. A diagnosis alone does not establish support hours. A need also should not be dismissed simply because it has a health component.

If the student misses class

Document missed days or periods and explanations received. Request a solution enabling program access. We can review educational needs and available routes, including Remedio Provisional when applicable.

The answer for your situation depends on the facts and records. An inquiry does not suspend legal deadlines or guarantee that the office will accept the case.
